One of the considerations for selecting students in determining the direction is the
achievement of students in semester one and two (grade 10) in the form of scores. Lack of accurate electoral process majors with the manual system at High School led to the need for a use of computational methods to classify students majoring in the electoral process.Backpropagation Algorithm Neural Network and Decision Tree algorithm that is easy and is often used in data clustering technique for making an estimate that is efficient and does not require a lot of parameters. Several studies have concluded that the Backpropagation algorithm and Decision Tree algorithm can be used to classify data. This research will be used algorithm Backpropagation Neural Network and Decision Tree algorithm to classify the data of high school students based on the value of core subjects for the majors. The study also examined the level of accuracy of the algorithm in determining the majors in high school. Thus we hope will be a solution that is more precise and accurate in the selection of majors in high school students based on academic ability
